Stilwerk Rooftop
Stilwerk Rooftop sits on top of the Stilwerk design center on Kantstrasse, a four-floor interiors mall that caters to West Berlin's architecture and design community. The rooftop opens seasonally from May through early October, and the terrace wraps around the building with views south over Savignyplatz, east toward the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtniskirche spire, and west across Charlottenburg rooftops. The bar itself is a small outdoor counter with a short list of cocktails, wines by the glass, and beer on tap. Lounge furniture, planters, and a few high tables create a casual layout that holds about 80 people comfortably. The crowd shifts through the day: design professionals and visitors during daylight hours, an after-work group from 18:00 onward, and a later crowd that skews 30s and 40s. DJ sets run on Friday and Saturday evenings from around 20:00 until the midnight close. Drinks are moderately priced for a rooftop, and the view, rather than the menu, is the draw. When the weather holds, the terrace is one of the more pleasant outdoor drinking spots in West Berlin.

Insider Tip
Arrive before sunset for the best views; the west-facing corner catches the late afternoon light until about 21:00 in summer. The cocktails are less reliable than the wine list, so play it safe with a glass of Riesling. Weekend DJ nights fill the terrace, so a weekday afternoon is quieter.
Full Review
The Stilwerk building is an interiors mall first and a bar venue second, and the rooftop feels like an amenity rather than a destination. The lift runs from the ground floor to the fourth floor where the terrace opens out behind a small bar counter. First impression is the view: the spire of the Gedachtniskirche to the east, the green of the Savignyplatz trees below, and a clear southern sight line over Charlottenburg rooftops. The furniture is low outdoor lounge sets and a handful of high tables near the bar.
The drinks menu is deliberately short. Three or four house cocktails, a handful of wines by the glass, beer on tap, and a few non-alcoholic options. The wine program is the most reliable part of the offer, with a clear Austrian and German focus. Cocktails are adequate but not the reason to visit; the bartenders work from a fixed recipe list rather than custom building. Snacks run to olives, cheese boards, and small hot plates from the Stilwerk kitchen. On weekends the DJ booth near the bar runs house and disco sets that keep the volume moderate enough for conversation.
Among West Berlin rooftops it sits in the middle of the field. Monkey Bar at the 25hours Hotel a short distance east has a better-known reputation and a more worked-up cocktail program, but the crowd is heavier and queues can be long. Klunkerkranich in Neukolln offers a different kind of DIY rooftop experience but feels worlds away. Stilwerk is the easy choice for a summer afternoon or early evening in the Savignyplatz area without the effort of a more destination venue.
For a practical visit, check the weather; the terrace closes at short notice when rain rolls in. No reservations are taken, so on Friday and Saturday arrivals around 19:00 get seated before the crowd builds. Payment is straightforward and tabs can be left open. Service slows when the terrace is full, so patience helps.
The Neighborhood
The Stilwerk building sits on Kantstrasse between Savignyplatz and Fasanenstrasse, in the heart of Charlottenburg's design and shopping district. The rooftop overlooks the residential grid south of Kantstrasse and faces the Kurfurstendamm strip to the east. Restaurants, cafes, and galleries fill the surrounding blocks, and the area stays lively into the evening.
Getting There
S-Bahn S3, S5, S7, or S9 to Savignyplatz, two-minute walk north to Kantstrasse. U1 to Uhlandstrasse also works, about six minutes on foot. Take the lift inside the Stilwerk building to the fourth floor.
