Bares El Marrakech
Bares El Marrakech sits off Calle Hamburgo in a quieter pocket of Zona Rosa and functions as a hookah lounge and cocktail bar styled around Moroccan interiors. The space uses low couches, heavy fabric cushions, brass lanterns, and patterned tiles to create an atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the EDM clubs on Amberes two blocks away. Signature drinks include mint tea cocktails, rosewater gin fizzes, and pomegranate mezcalitas, and the hookah program runs traditional Middle Eastern tobacco with fruit and herbal mixes. Food runs a short Mediterranean menu of hummus, falafel, and shawarma-style plates. The crowd is mixed-age but tends to gather in small groups settled into the cushions for long conversations rather than turnover-heavy bar service.

Insider Tip
Request a hookah at the start of your visit since coals take 15 minutes to prepare. Book a cushion area in advance for groups of four or more, especially on weekends. The mint tea cocktail works as a lighter alternative to the mezcal-heavy options.
Full Review
Bares El Marrakech occupies a basement-level space a few steps down from Hamburgo's sidewalk, and the entrance opens into a single long room divided into seating zones by heavy curtains and decorative screens. The design commits hard to the Moroccan concept, with patterned floor tiles, brass pendant lamps, low cushioned seating, and ornately carved wooden tables. The effect is more atmospheric than authentic, but it works well as a contrast to the harder-edged Zona Rosa club scene.
Hookah is the main draw. The program runs standard Middle Eastern shisha with fruit mixes, mint, apple, and occasional seasonal blends running 350 to 500 MXN for a full session. Staff manage the coals every 20 to 30 minutes and replace the bowls when requested. Cocktails lean into Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors: mint tea with gin, pomegranate mezcalitas, rosewater fizzes, and straight spirits served with house infusions. Pricing sits in the mid-range at 180 to 240 MXN per drink.
Food is functional rather than exceptional. Hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, and shawarma-style plates are adequate for snacking between hookah rounds, though nobody comes here primarily for the food. The menu pairs well with the pace of the evening, which skews toward long stays of two to three hours rather than quick drinks.
Compared to the themed clubs on Amberes, Bares El Marrakech is an entirely different format. This works as a pre-midnight stop before moving to a dance venue, or as a destination on its own for groups who want hookah and quieter conversation. Uber is the best way out; walking back toward Reforma late at night is fine but standard Zona Rosa caution applies.
The Neighborhood
Hamburgo runs through the center of Zona Rosa parallel to Londres and Reforma. This stretch mixes restaurants, cafes, and a few bars, and the area feels calmer than the Amberes club strip two blocks south.
Getting There
Metro Insurgentes on Line 1 is a seven-minute walk. Metrobús Hamburgo on Line 1 is directly accessible. Uber drops at the Hamburgo address.
