Z Hostel Rooftop
Z Hostel Rooftop sits on top of Z Hostel in the Poblacion neighborhood of Makati, offering an open-air bar with panoramic views of the Makati skyline. The rooftop space has a capacity of about 80 people, with a mix of bar seating, lounge chairs, and standing areas. The bar serves craft cocktails at 200 to 350 PHP, local beers at 100 PHP, and a small food menu with bar snacks at 150 to 300 PHP. DJs play on weekends, with a music mix of house, chill electronic, and R&B. The crowd is a sharp departure from P. Burgos Street below: backpackers staying at the hostel, digital nomads working from Makati, Filipino young professionals, and tourists who heard about the rooftop on social media. There is no entertainment industry connection whatsoever. This is a conventional rooftop bar that happens to be in the same neighborhood as P. Burgos. Weekend evenings see the largest crowds, with the bar reaching capacity by 10 PM. No cover charge on most nights.

Full Review
Z Hostel Rooftop is the clearest reminder that Poblacion is not just P. Burgos Street. The rooftop bar attracts a completely different demographic: backpackers in their twenties, digital nomads with laptops downstairs and cocktails up top, Filipino couples on dates, and small groups of friends taking skyline photos.
The space is well-designed for its purpose. Lounge chairs line the edge with a view of the Makati skyline, while high tables and bar seating occupy the center. The bar serves cocktails that are a genuine step up from the standard Filipino bar. A lemongrass mojito at 280 PHP was well-balanced and fresh.
On a Saturday evening, the rooftop filled steadily from 7 PM. By 9 PM, it was shoulder-to-shoulder, with a DJ playing a smooth house mix that fit the mood. The crowd was international and young, maybe average age 28 to 30. Conversations happened naturally because the communal seating encourages it.
Beer at 100 PHP is standard. The cocktails at 200 to 350 PHP are more expensive than P. Burgos bar prices, but you are paying for the view and the atmosphere. There is no cover charge on regular nights, though special events occasionally charge 200 to 300 PHP.
Z Hostel Rooftop is the venue to recommend to anyone who asks what else there is to do in Poblacion besides the entertainment strip. It proves that the neighborhood has a legitimate, conventional nightlife scene alongside its more famous attractions.
