LA Cafe Makati
LA Cafe Makati is a late-night bar on a side street off P. Burgos Street that functions as one of the area's primary freelancer meeting points. The venue operates without a bar fine system because it does not employ the women who frequent it. Instead, freelancers visit independently, and any arrangement is made directly between individuals. The bar has a simple interior: a long counter, high tables, a pool table, and booth seating along the walls. Capacity is about 40 people. The atmosphere peaks after midnight, when the go-go bars start closing and freelancers move to venues like this. Beer costs 90 PHP, cocktails 150 to 200 PHP. There is no cover charge. The crowd is a mix of expats, tourists, and Filipino freelancers. The bar serves basic food including burgers and fries at 150 to 250 PHP. The bouncers are present but unobtrusive, maintaining order without creating an intimidating atmosphere.

Full Review
LA Cafe Makati serves the same function near P. Burgos Street that Midnight Heaven Cafe serves in Malate: a late-night meeting point for freelancers and visitors. The venue is simpler and smaller than its Malate counterpart, but the concept is identical.
The interior is basic. A bar counter, high tables, booth seating, and a pool table occupy a rectangular room. The lighting is dim but not uncomfortably so. Music plays at a volume that allows normal conversation. On a Friday night at 1 AM, about 25 people were present: a dozen foreign visitors and a similar number of Filipino women.
The social dynamic is unstructured. Women circulate through the room, making eye contact and sometimes approaching visitors directly. Others wait to be approached. Pool games serve as icebreakers. The bar staff stay out of whatever arrangements are made, taking no percentage and offering no guidance.
Beer at 90 PHP is reasonable for the Makati area. The burger at 200 PHP was basic but edible. The bouncers at the door checked IDs and maintained a calm presence without being aggressive.
LA Cafe Makati is a functional venue for a specific purpose. It lacks the history and character of Midnight Heaven Cafe in Malate, but its proximity to P. Burgos Street makes it convenient for visitors who are already in the Makati nightlife area. The late hours ensure it catches the post-go-go-bar crowd.
